Kerry Lewis: Sweeping Reductions was the big one! I played the lead role (Harvey Goosey) in Harry’s play. He had assumed that this would be done in a local accent but for some reason, even though I spoke it, I found this difficult so we transposed it to Yorkshire and I used a northern accent throughout. I have seen the photo of the production before but I don’t remember seeng the reviews. Given that they are very good my family think I should have chosen acting as my career!

These were the first plays to be performed in what was then known as "the new hall". Lord Mountbatten of Burma would be the guest of honour at prize giving day in 1966 and the hall named "Mountbatten Hall". Prior to 1965, plays were held in the old school hall, which became the library. Unusually, this play took place at Easter rather than December, so it looks as if this was the delayed 1964 play.
